Pablo

a Cubist love story

Pablo meets the girl of his dreams, but it seems he is just not her type. Can love triumph over... artistic differences?

This was my short I made at the UCLA animation workshop, and was screened at the UCLA 2009 PROM Festival of Animation. "Pablo" blends 2D and 3D stop-motion and AfterEffects. All of the artwork, puppets, animation, photography, compositing, and the story were done by me. It's a simple story, and the aesthetic style really plays a major part. The characters were all inspired by paintings, and the music track is "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Mussorgsky.

Behind-the-scenes look at the lo-fi animation setup. A desk lamp and a diffuser is all you need for some nice lighting.
